I’m not very good at consistancy, I said I’d do some more reviews and I did, I just never felt justified enough to publish them. I always feel more like publishing something I feel passionate about, most moves don’t inspire determined bile from me like transformers and many aren’t amazing like avatar. Some movies in the past year have totally justified a swift execution and others have deserved much heaped praise, but i’d kind of forgotton about this adventure into the internet nerd realm of blogging. I have no intention of regular posting or posting to anyone or for the benefit of anyone other than myself…
Now with that promise made to myself I feel I can use this to ramble about whatever the hell crosses my mind XD.
And what with me being gay I could hardly talk about anything but the intensly gay phenomonon that is lady Gaga. Unfortunately I seem to have been bypassed by the law that dictates all gay people must throw uncensored adulation at her feet and have a lot of pent up anger towards the woman at the moment, hence this blog post.
Like any respectable gay person I have a representation of friends that are gay and I can think of a few who have been consistantly reminding me and the world that lady gaga is still alive and has been once again experimenting with music and possibly hallucinogens to produce further music to get maybe, like, a hundred more grammys. My opinion of LGs first albumwas that it had some decent pop music that was catchy enough to hit club circuits a few times and sell millions of records the world over. She’s like the new britney, only already crazy.
Because obviously gays love catchy tunes in clubs and LG is proudly for gay rights (which i certainly have no problem with, plenty of other people certainly will beat on her for that… tossers) and perhaps because she’s suspiciously drag queen-esque, the gay community latched onto the gaga train with fervour and promptly bought every single at least twice. The uncomfortable truth is that while LG may be a talented singer and possibly song writer (though the number of made up words per song casts a lot of doubt on that) she is incredibly pretentious to an annoying degree. All her videos are pseudo-artistic statements of bullshit, with each one about a thousand years longer than the actual song, because she’s meant to be deep or something… I think the reality is LG just loves being on camera and acting like a fruit loop.
Every video is just an exercise in the woman dressed in odd assortments of clothes and prentending she’s a murderer or in the intro sequence to an alien movie or something equally irrelevent to the actual song. The lyrics to which couldn’t have less meaning (let alone a deep one) if she was singing it backwards. The telephone video had a publicity buildup greater than that of the moonlanding and yet simply riffed on a few quentin tarintino movies like it was clever (ignoring the fact QT movies are riffs on various genres of movie in the first place, but they’re extremely self-reflective and despite being a douche QT brings something innovative to the genre while respecting it and the classics from before his time… maybe LG is trying to emulate that she is like QT but in the music industry, but if that was her intention then she is wrong, and a little bit special. Mainly because having respect and innovation in pop music is a hilarious concept when you think about it).
If her videos become any more self involved it’ll be 20 minutes of LG humming to herself in a hall of mirrors.
Now she has released Born this way. According to Elton John it’s the gayest gay that a gay ever gayed in the gay (I paraphrase) comparing it to I will survive in classic awesomeness and culture, not that I want to dis the head of the gay mafia (Gawd I miss will and grace). However, to me, the song lacks even the initial catchy nature of her previous singles making it hard to get into. Let’s not forget that this isn’t going to be revolutionary in terms of message, nor will it convert the hard-right thinking gays are people, so to me it smacks of using a political point to sell records ( I mean she’s just agreeing with her fans, had her main base been teen girls the song would probably been about humping the jonas brothers and the twilight cast… then again the gay crowd would have probably bought that too :-/).
Not that you can’t use a political message to sell music, I just wish she was up front about it instead of trying to be deep and saying it’s about a new race of people while openly admitting she knocked it together in 10 minutes, possibly while high. Frankly the stitches are showing and the LG juggernaut will probably fall soon… the woman has no lasting appeal, good for her if she proves me wrong, but I wouldn’t be surprised if 10 years down tha line she’s just like britney, or any other pop-star desperatly trying to have one more hit by acting more and more like a nut-job. Bear in mind she’s already a unicorn-riding egg-dweller who simulated giving birth for the sake of edgyness.
Now to stop being an internet troll and go do some actual work
Till next time bitches

As ever, an entertaining read with good points
Especially the comparison of LG and GT
“If her videos become any more self involved it’ll be 20 minutes of LG humming to herself in a hall of mirrors.” – Made me laugh.
